Carmenere

Mayu Carménère Appassimento Wine Review (Episode 429)

We taste our 1st ever Grand Reserva Carmenere Appassimento.

We are tasting this wine at the suggestion of Soul Vinum who works for the Majestic Wine Retailer here in the UK in the very glorious county of Devon.

Given the number of wines Soul has access to and the fact that he recommended this one, we thought we would pop along to our local branch up here in Huddersfield in the North of England and grab a bottle to review!

The colour has a definite brown/hue to it which gives it that aged look.

The nose is more like one would expect from a Pinot Noir, than a Carmenere.

On the palate, the mouthfeel is fantastic, so silky and viscous.

Flavour-wise blackcurrant and other black fruits come through.

The length is very reasonable with after notes of tobacco and peppers on the finish.
