We taste the Guv’nor VIP Red wine produced for Majestic Wine Merchants. It is produced from grapes sourced from the Rioja, Toro and Ribea de Duero regions of Spain.
The colour is a deep burgundy.
On the nose, the scent jumps out to meet you and the smell is not what we expected. We began by detecting black cherry and a little edge of cream coffee.
The wine’s taste also surprised us with a chocolatey richness, the taste of black cherries and the coffee we smelt on the nose.
The length is also excellent leaving a nice sweet but not cloyed sweetness.
It also has to be said that the tannins are very well balanced against the fruit and alcohol.
