Italian Wine

Surani Costarossa Primitivo (Episode 415)

This review of the Surani Costarossa is based on a viewer’s recommendation, Mr Tim Ford.

Tim commented on our Chateauneuf du Pape Les Courlandes Grand Reserve episode (Episode 380) that he agreed with our conclusions and suggested we try this wine as it is his go-to wine.
So, the challenge was accepted – thanks, Tim! The colour has a tremendous purple hue.
There is a great oakey and smokey scent.
The nose also reminded john L of a cherry pie when it had just come out of the oven and the pastry had yet to be cut open.
Taste wise the first thing we noticed was that the wine had a great mouth feel and the weightiness of the wine.
This wine has a reasonable length as well! John L detected red cheery flavours while John M detected black cherry.
