Chablis

Petit-Chablis Jean Bouchard (Episode 289)

This episode is the first episode of our series of videos on Chardonnay and we kick off with a Petit-Chablis from Jean Bouchard.

Chablis is deemed by many to be the best chardonnay in the world.

Petit-Chablis is not considered as good as “Chardonnay”, but you could be drinking wine grown only metres from where “Chardonnay” is grown for much higher prices.

Often you can get a green hint on the colour of chardonnay, but this wine did not exhibit that.

The smell, or nose, of the wine, exhibited some stone fruits, peach and apricot, pineapple, and pear.

The taste did not disappoint, sometimes the taste is not as good as the nose suggests it is going to be, but fortunately not in this case.

The tastes were the same as the flavours detected on the nose but amplified.

It has a beautiful silky texture, and the acidity and fruit are beautifully balanced.

At £8.49 this is excellent value with many chardonnays being sold at double this price.

This wine would pair beautifully with seafood, chicken or even pork!

This wine was scored at eighty-two by John M and eighty-eight by John L

Both Johns concluded that they would definitely buy this wine again.
