Ian Botham’s Series 80 Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Review (Episode 354)

In this episode we taste a Cabernet Sauvignon, Bottham 80 Series, made by the Winemaker Ian Boham who during the 1980s was one of England’s most successful cricketers.

This label on this wine suggests it might well be worth keeping for 7 to 10 years before drinking.

We couldn’t wait that long to film the review, so here it is opened within the year!

The colour is a lovely ruby.

The smell of the wine, or nose if you prefer, is full of jammy fruit, typical of a Cabernet Sauvignon, with a touch of vanilla and a touch of spice.

The taste starts very well, but then the tannins cut in washing away any chance of tasting the fruit.

Maybe this is the reason they suggest letting it age for 7+ years?

At £10 a bottle this wine, in our opinion, was disappointing.
