Sainsburys House Torla Rioja Wine – (Episode 221 Part 4)

In the 4th part of this episode where we check out wines available in the supermarket for under £6.50, we try out this House Rioja from Sainsbury’s.

The colour was a deep purple and on the nose, cheery was the predominant aroma.

However, John M felt that there was a vinegar tinge to the small – not a good start!

On the palette the cherry flavour hits you and then the tannins kick in and then the taste is gone.

So a good honest simple table wine and at £5.00 one can not complain.

John L described it as a good country wine.

M&S Lock Keepers Shiraz (Episode 206 – Part 2)

In the 2nd part of this episode, we taste a Shiraz from Marks and Spencer – Lock Keepers Reserve 2018 produced in South Eastern Australia.

The price of this wine at the time of writing is £9.00.

The nose was much more subtle than the Shiraz we tasted in part 1 of this episode.

It was much more difficult to detect the aromas of this wine, plum was present and John M also detected some tobacco and some spice.

On the palate, however, this wine had a full-on taste on the palate.

It had an intense fruit taste but was also very soft and smooth to the palate.

Yellow Tail Merlot Wine Review (Episode 184)

In this video, we taste a Yellow Tail Merlot. This wine is available around the world is grown and produced in Australia. the winery is still run by the same family that started the business back in the 1950’s having emigrated from Sicily.

Priced at around £7.00 in UK supermarkets, it will be acceptable to most peoples pockets.

You must excuse John L’s schoolboy humour in this video but what is wine about if it is not about enjoyment!

This wine is ideal for those looking to add red wines to their list of wines to drink.

Albret La Vino de mi Madre Wine Review (Episode 183)

In this episode, we taste a fantastic 2013 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Spain.

The rough translation of the wines’ name is My Mother’s Wine.

It has a great rich colour, a great nose (smell) and then when tasted massive dark fruit flavours followed by the taste of lighter red fruits.

A great wine if you are interested in starting to try to identify more than one flavour from your wine.
