Portuguese Wine

Quinta da Casaboa Winery – Portugal (Episode 174)

Another episode from our visit to the 2019 London Wine Fair where we have the great pleasure to talk to Joana Paes the General Manager at Quinta da Casaboa Winery about her family’s wine produced just a way outside of Portugal’s capital Lisbon.

Joana is the General manager of her Family’s winery, having grown up in the winery is part of life. The vineyard is 50km outside of Lisbon and very near the sea which has a fantastic effect on the taste of the grapes.

Joana goes on to explain the grapes they grow in their vineyard and the types of wine that they produce.

To find out more about the wine please take a look at Joana’s company’s web site: –

Apologies for the photographs of the wine not appearing on the video, photographs will, however, be available shortly.

Lobo e Falcao White Wine from Portugal (Episode 109 Part 3)

In the final part of this episode, we taste a great white from just to the North of Lisbon in Portugal.

You may recall we reviewed a great Red wine from Portugal recently following the press claiming that Portugal is the place where it is all happening as far as new exciting wines hitting the marketplace is concerned. Click here to see this review  https://youtu.be/D0JLv9N3bcA.

This white wine is from the same winery and does not disappoint. John describes it as lush!

Tasting a Great Red Portuguese wine (Episode 97)

In this episode, having read in the wine magazine ‘Decanter’ that Portugal is the place to be to discover some of the most exciting new wines to be brought to market, we decided to taste a sample from a vineyard in the Tejo wine region just to the North West of Portugal’s capital city – Lisbon.

The wine we tasted was Lobo e Falcao (Wolf and Falcon) The wolf part of the name comes from the Vineyard owners nickname and the Falcon part of the name comes from where the wine is produced in what used to be Portuguese Royalty’s Falconry.

What a great wine!

Quita Do Carmo from Portugal’s Alentejano Region

What a fantastic start to this Episode!

A great Red from Portugal’s Alentejano region. this wine was sent across by Joao, Miguel and Andre after John and reviewed some other wines from Alentejano (Episode 38).

What a great way to start the episode and the year – a wine with a real punch – in flavour and, at 14.5%, in alcohol content!
