Trivento Argentina Mendoza Malbec (Episode 132 Part 3)

In this final part of our episode on tasting Argentine Malbec, we taste a bottle of Trivento Malbec again from the Mendoza region which is available from Tescos priced at £8.00.

The nose again smells more like a Pinot Noir than a Malbec, on the taste however the flavour is more Malbec with a red cherry order. We consider the tannins to be a little too heavy and therefore slightly unbalanced.

Block 18 Tesco’s Finest Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 120 Part 3)

In the last part of this episode, we taste Tesco’s Block 18 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The most expensive of the three we have tasted in this episode. Will the extra money be worth it?

In John’s opinion, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon for Cabernet Sauvignon drinkers. In other words, you probably would only appreciate the subtle differences from the cabernet sauvignon we tasted in part 1 – if you are not a Cabernet Sauvignon drinker you probably will think the cabernet sauvignon we tasted in part 1 would be better value for money.

Tasting Pinotage from Sainsburys, Tescos and M&S (Episode 82 Introduction)

We taste a Sainsburys, Tesco and M&S Pinotage Wine.
Take a look to see what you think.

Pinotage is South Africa’s signature grape.

The grape was created back in 1925 when the scientist Abraham Perold tried to find a way of creating a Pinot Noir that would grow successfully in South Africa.

He crossed a Pinot Noir and a Cinsaut (also know as a Hermitage) to produce a wine that has more of a resemblance to Shiraz than Pinot Noir.

Tasting a Tesco Finest Pinot Noir (Episode 81 Part 1)

In the first part of this episode, we taste a Pinot Noir from the Tesco Finest Range.

For John, this is not a typical Pinot Noir as the taste reminds him more of a Cabernet Sauvignon.

However, it definitely gets the thumbs up from both of us for taste and value.
