Ervideira Vineyard – Interview (Episode 196 Part 3)

In this part of the episode, we visit the Ervideira vineyard and talk to one of the owners who is the vineyard’s winemaker.

He begins by explaining the history of his family’s vineyard – he is one of the fourth generation now running the vineyard.

They have a fantastic range of 25 wines which are all top-flight – they focus on quality rather than volume.

They also have quirky wines such as the 30,000 bottles wines that are stored underwater at a depth of around 30m in Portugal’s and Europes largest lake which, when you compare to exactly the same wine stored above water, taste significantly different.

Casa da Carvalha VineYard (Episode 196 Part 2)

In this episode, I get the honour of interviewing Pedro Santos from the Casa de Carvalha vineyard in the Portuguese wine region of Doa.

The interview takes place in the Order dos Engenheiros, roughly translated into the Chartered Institute of Engineering’s restaurant where we get to taste Pedro’s family’s wine as well enjoying a fantastic lunch.

Pedro talks about his own comparatively small vineyard (3 Hectacres) as well the Portuguese wine industry, in general, both past and present.

Quinta Da Casaboa – Vineyard Visit (Episode 196 – Part 1)

In this episode, we have the great pleasure to visit the Quinta da Casaboa and speak to their General Manager and family owner of this wonderful vineyard – Joana Paes

Joana explains the history of the vineyard which was started by her Grandad back in the 1950s.

Joana explains how she changed the philosophy of the vineyard to meet the new demands of the consumer.

She goes on to explain how they decided what wines to produce.
