italian wines 101

Primanero Organic Primitivo (Episode 219)

This is a great wine and such incredible value at £4.99 from Aldi produced in the Puglia in the south of Italy in what some call the “heel” of Italy.

We could easily have believed it was retailing at twice the price.

The primary difference between organic wine and regular wine s that the grapes are grown organically with the absence of pesticides.

The wine smells great and has a great taste of cherry with a great length and fantastic after taste. F

or the price, this wine is of exceptional value!

Sainsbury’s Primitivo (Episode 214)

This wine from Sainsbury’s own brand – Taste the Difference is a wine well known to John M, but not to John L – have you heard of it? Let us know in the comments section.

The wine was available from Sainsbury’s at £7.00 at the time of recording.

On the nose, John M felt the smell reminded him of a damp dog which wasn’t meant to be a derogatory comment!

Also, a spiciness was detected that reminded John L of stewed apple and Rhubarb and apple crumble for John L.

On the palate, the taste is very fruity at first then the tannins kick after which a liquorice taste kicks in. Perhaps a wine that is best eating with a great Italian pasta dish.
