Cabernet

Block 18 Tesco’s Finest Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 120 Part 3)

In the last part of this episode, we taste Tesco’s Block 18 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The most expensive of the three we have tasted in this episode. Will the extra money be worth it?

In John’s opinion, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon for Cabernet Sauvignon drinkers. In other words, you probably would only appreciate the subtle differences from the cabernet sauvignon we tasted in part 1 – if you are not a Cabernet Sauvignon drinker you probably will think the cabernet sauvignon we tasted in part 1 would be better value for money.

Errazuriz Estate Series Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 120 Part 2)

The second Cabernet Sauvignon we try from Chile is an Errazuriz Cabernet Sauvignon this time from the Valle del Maipo. This family-owned vineyard was founded in 1870 so has a lot of experience in producing excellent wine.

This wine was a great example of a Cabernet Sauvignon but did not quite hit the same spot as the wine we tasted in part 1 of this episode.

Nederburg South African Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 119 Part 3)

In the last part of this episode where we taste three Cabernet Sauvignon wines from South Africa, we taste a Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon.

First impressions on the eye are good although on the nose it did not quite seem like a Cabernet Sauvignon. In fact, we thought it has a nose more akin to Pinot Noir.

The taste, however, was much more representative of a Cabernet Sauvignon. certainly the best of the trio!

The price is £5.75

Stormhoek South African Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 119 Part 2)

We taste another Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa, this time a Stormhoek.

This second wine has much more to it and has much more length.

This wine is easily recognised as a Cabernet Sauvignon, if slightly light in taste.

The price for this wine is £7.50.

Morrisons South African Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 119 Part 1)

In this first part of this of three tastings of Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa, we taste an own brand from the supermarket Morrisons.

So what did we think of it?

Slightly disappointing for its price of £7.00

Tasting Sainsbury’s Cabernet Sauvignon (Episode 83 Part 4)

In the last part of this episode where we taste a very nice Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon from Marks and Spencer.
Full of fruit; blackcurrant and strawberry, very “jammy” and our favourite of the four tasted in this episode.

Tasting a Hardy’s Cabernet (Episode 83 Part 1)

In the first part of this episode, we taste a Hardy’s Cabernet.

Since buying this wine we have been unable to find any details of anyone selling this wine. Details could not even be found on Hardy’s own website – a mystery!
