Kourtaki Retsina (Episode 221 – Part 2)

In this episode, we try to find some good quality wines for under or around the £6 mark which are freely available in UK Supermarkets.

In the second part of this episode, we taste a Kourtaki Retsina wine from Greece which is available from the Sainsburys chain of supermarkets at the price of £5.75

John M had not tried this wine and John L had tried this style of wine a long, long time before when on holiday when in Corfu.

John L’s recognition was not very favourable, but he was keen to taste it again given the length of time since he last tasted it to see if his tastes had changed.

To the sight, the wine looks very much like an oaked Chardonnay, a golden yellow colour with a splash of green.

On the nose, the aroma is very distinctive and unlike any other wine we have tasted which we assume is as a direct result of the resin.

On the palette, the taste was also unique which was something we felt was a ”marmite” taste you either did or did not like it, there is no in-between!
