Tasting a Aldi Gavi (Episode 79 Part 3)

So how does the Aldi Gavi compare with the Morrison and Tesco versions we tasted in Part 1 and 2?

More apple tastes in this one, better mouthfeel, better balanced and for John the best of the three we have tasted.

Tasting a Gavi Wine from Morrisons (Episode 79 Part 1)

In part 1 of this episode, we taste a Gavi available from Morrisons. Gavi made from the Cortese grape and is produced in North West Italy near the town of Gavi, funny enough!

This wine was very refreshing and more for quaffing than for savouring.

Tasting Supermarket Gavi (Episode 79 Introduction)

We quickly introduce our next episode in which we review three supermarket Gavi wines from Morrisons, Tesco, and Aldi.
Cortese is normally at the heart of Gavi so let’s see what we think of these supermarket examples.

Riesling from Marks and Spencer (Episode 78 Part 3)

In the last part of this episode, we taste a Riesling from Marks and Spencer.

Again the normal ‘petrol’ nose is not apparent like the previous two we have tasted in this episode, but it does it have more of that oily texture on the palate.

This wine is more complex than the previous two but was not quite to John’s personal taste.

Tasting a Riesling from Tesco (Episode 78 Part 2)

In the second part of this episode, we taste a Riesling from Tesco’s Finest Range.

Produced in Australia, as was the Aldi wine in Part 1, this wine did have the hint of petrol on the ‘nose’.
Not quite as floral as the Aldi wine, but probably has more of a traditional taste for Reisling.
Again just like the Aldi – a “cracking price”.

Tasting a Riesling from Aldi (Episode 78 Part 1)

In the first part of this episode, we taste a Riesling from Aldi.

The taste was not what John expected, but none the less a great tasting wine. Very refreshing, quite complex, zesty and very well priced.

Tasting some Sparkling Mead (Episode 77)

So for something totally different – Sparkling Mead from the same company that produces the Mead Wine we tasted in Episode 63 ( http://winemastery.co.uk/tasting-moniack-mead-wine-episode-63 )! We were surprised just how tasty and yet refreshing this sparkling mead was.

If you fancy a change and want to try something different that is full of taste and very refreshing this is the drink to try.
