Cabernet Sauvignon Comparisions

In this Episode, we taste Sauvignon Cabernets from California, Chile and Romania.

The purpose of the tasting is to potentially replace one of the Cabernets Czerwiks currently stock.

Will the new contender be good enough to knock one of John’s existing Cabernets off of the shelf?

In part 3 of this Episode we now try a Chenin Blanc from another part of South Africa, the West Cape – are we able to detect a significant difference in the taste, given the wine is produced in the same country, but by a different vineyard and in a different wine region?

In Part 1 of Episode 45 we taste our first Chenin Blanc. John recommends that if you like Pinot Grigio then you should try a Chenin Blanc. In this episode, we taste a 2015 vintage Chenin from the Paarl region in South Africa, What did we think of it… ?

Tasting a Chenin Blanc from Paarl in South Africa

In the second part of Episode 45 we taste another wine from the Paarl area of South Africa.

A Klien Kloof which translated is, I think, Small Gap! so what did we think of it and given the grapes were grown in the same area as the wine we tried in Part 1 could we tell the difference.

John suggests that if you like Pinot Grigio you will love this wine also.

Tasting a wine made from the Black Feteasca Grape

In this episode, we taste another wine from the company that supplies the Romanian Royal Family.

This wine is from a single grape, the Black Feteasca, and what a fantastic wine it turned out to be.

The company refer to this grape as their Princess grape and full of beauty and grace it is!

It is not surprising to find out therefore that this grape si one of the oldest grape varieties to be found in Romania.
